To support and develop this noble pastime, the ChacaLit committee has decided to support independent book clubs to meet and discuss the same book throughout the community. From foreigners who love the warm weather, to locals who work in Chacala. We want to organize a large number of meetings to discuss a different book each year. We favor Mexican authors, available in several languages and preferably on e-readers. After all, we are 50 km from our nearest bookstore.
Join the book club by buying the book, reading it and organizing a meeting to discuss it! Whether it's in English, Spanish or any of the other translations and share your reading with us. Pass on the love of reading.

ChacaLit is a program aimed at spreading the love for books and reading. It also provides an opportunity for emerging writers to present their work to diverse audiences.
Children's workshops and public readings are held throughout the year for local people, while the writers' residency takes place during the first two weeks of December.
Writers of different genres and with diverse backgrounds are invited to spend time on their writing and engage with the community, as well as with visitors.
ChacaLit's main goals are to promote literacy and a love of books throughout our community and to position Chacala as a place for creative people from many disciplines and diverse backgrounds, especially writers.
ChacaLit is made possible by the efforts of volunteers who love Chacala and literature. Fundraising activities are held throughout the year and local businesses support this project, which manages to put Chacala on the map.
