Chacala organizes a free, community-run Music and Arts Festival in March each year, which has been community-driven since 2014. It features performances by children, local visual and recording artists, bands, solo acts, dance groups and even theatrical works. The lineup is diverse and the festival is designed to include participants of different nationalities, ages and backgrounds. Why not arrange your trip to Chacala during the festival dates? It takes place in mid-March.
We are a team of community volunteers from different countries, professions and backgrounds. What we have in common is a love for the arts, a belief in their power to enable positive change and a passion for this small, traditional Riviera Nayarita community.
To provide an annual celebration and year-round calendar with a wide variety of artistic performances and events for Chacala's neighbors and visitors, as well as to position our community as a traditional Mexican beach town with high quality artistic values and a rich cultural life.
To complement the existing arts education of the community's youth with additional teaching opportunities that stimulate, develop and nurture the community's talent.
Building on existing programs such as El Jardín Montessori Waldorf School and the Cambiando Vidas scholarship program, our intention is for the arts to bridge cultural gaps and provide local children with a window into a world of possibilities for the future and a place to express themselves.
